Want to know more about Millicent Nankivell?
Hi! My name is Millicent Nankivell (Millie, if you prefer), and I’m an Australian space fantasy author and content creator! I graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Creative Writing, and minoring in Children’s Literature and Digital Media) and have a passion for creativity in online spaces. They’re currently withdrawn while I re-write them, but I have historically published two young adult fantasy novels: The Last King and The Gem of Orithian, the first two books in a planned tetralogy.
When I’m not writing my books, I enjoy sightseeing around my home city of Melbourne, Australia, and taking photos and video snapshots of what I see. I also love playing video games, and you’ll often find me live on Twitch engaging with my growing community while playing games and hanging out with other creative friends I’ve made on my journey.

Vision statement
Human-centred creative arts and expression is something I’m deeply passionate about. I believe we all have a story to tell with perspective that is uniquely our own, and that expression can take many forms. I want to create a space where I can share my own creative expressions, and in turn encourage others to do the same.
The world we live in today feels like it’s constantly being deconstructed, but I believe it’s those who are building and creating who will create meaningful impact and lead us to a brighter, more stable future.
Millicent as a writer
Primarily I thrive on creating escapes from the reality we exist in. My focus and passion is for writing fantasy novels with environments I want to escape to and explore, and characters I might want to befriend. I’m currently in the process of re-writing my first two novels: The Last King and The Gem of Orithian, both of which are set in my Astoria galaxy, following the main character, Anastasia Avignon. I have other stories simmering away in the background, but Anastasia’s journey is my current focus.
I’m also a hopeless romantic and place strong emphasis on the importance of friendship, and on strong family values. You can guarantee there will be love stories, epic friendships, and family bonding and drama at the centre of my novels.
